Negotiating Dues

Negotiating Dues

Have you heard the latest? IAM campaign staff is claiming that we will negotiate our own dues! IAM campaigners, like Laurie Gandrud and Tammy Yeager, have actually publicly stated that we would negotiate what our monthly dues would be!

This is just another example that the Machinists union and their supporters either:

a. Believe that the Delta flight attendants are naïve enough to believe them,

OR

b. That even the IAM staff doesn’t know how a union really works, and if they can’t address an issue as simple as a monthly payment, what credibility do they have with regard to any other information they put out?

Dues Facts:

What Laurie and Tammy either don’t know (gross negligence) or don’t want you to know (gross conspiracy) is that IAM International decides what the dues are, without any input from Delta flight attendants (there’s not even a table, much less a seat at the table). The Machinists will dictate to the Delta flight attendants what the monthly dues will be, currently about $60 per month. That money will go to IAM headquarters in Washington.

Then, if the Delta flight attendants want any actual union “services” at the local (base) level, the flight attendants would have to pay an additional fee!

Nice Work If You Can Get It

That, right there, is a great business plan: Getting people to pay over $700 a year just for the privilege of saying they’re a Machinist! Then charging an additional fee if people expect some sort of service. . . every scammer, con artist and Bernie Madoff wannabe should be lucky enough to find “work” like this. Oh and did you know that if IAM fails to perform, or refuses to provide service or reneges on their promises, it will be impossible for us to fire them? Nice work, indeed and it pays $14 million a year.

Open Challenge to IAM Activists

Today I challenge all the IAM Activists, especially those of you posting on Facebook sites, like World Class and all the other secret sites where people seem more interested in attacking me (the messenger) as opposed to discussing the issues (the message), to take a break from those sites for a few days, do some research about what I'm posting, and PROVE ME WRONG.

That's right - prove me wrong, call me a liar, call me lazy, claim that people at my own base hate me, claim whatever you like about me but PROVE MY FACTS WRONG. MAKE ME EAT MY WORDS. If you were so confident in your knowledge of IAM’s history and record, you wouldn’t lash out in such insecure anger.

And for goodness sake, get a clue about IAM communications - because all of you who use Facebook, etc. have got to realize on some level that we are a mobile workforce. Many flight attendants don't have time to visit a lodge for additional information about the IAM. So instead of biting every person who has a legitimate question about the Machinists, how about a few answers?

Please share this email with your friends and coworkers.

Sincerely,

Jose Arturo Ibarra
