The AFA THUG that just stole our profit sharing is back in the news. Not only is she a THUG, she is encouraging all UAL flight attendants to act in the same heavy-handed thug-like behavior of intimidation, fear and coercion.
Read all about it and please share it with one and all but especially forward this email to UAL flight attendants.
Sincerely,
Jose Arturo Ibarra

IAM Accuses AFA Of Intimidation, Harrassment At United, Mar 7, 2011 ~ By Jennifer Michels (http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story_generic.jsp?channel=aviationdaily&id=news/avd/2011/03/07/06.xml&headline=IAM%20Accuses%20AFA%20Of%20Intimidation,%20Harrassment%20At%20United)
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has written to Association of Flight Attendants (AFA-CWA) International President Veda Shook, accusing the AFA of harassing United Airlines’ AFA-CWA flight attendants who have shown interest in joining the IAM.
The IAM represents more than 9,000 flight attendants at Continental Airlines, and the AFA-CWA represents more than 15,000 at United. In mid-January, the AFA asked the National Mediation Board to declare that the United/Continental merger created a single carrier, a technical distinction that enables a union to seek a new election after a merger with the goal of representing the combined workforce.
IAM General VP Robert Roach told Shook, “The IAM has received troubling reports that flight attendants, including AFA-CWA representatives, are providing United Airlines management with the names of fellow flight attendants—your dues-paying members—who support the IAM, alleging they are in violation of minor company policies.” Flight attendants also reported that some officers within the AFA “are using fear and intimidation to suppress any pro-IAM discussions,” he said.
In a March 2 letter responding to Roach, Shook wrote that the AFA proposed on several occasions to meet with him to discuss issues affecting the combined United/Continental company. One important distinction between the two groups, Shook said, is that the AFA unit at United has negotiated an Onboard Safety Action Program, which enables voluntary reporting of safety lapses in “a de-identified, non-punitive program.” These protections are similar to the coverage pilots and other workers enjoy under the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). The AFA negotiated similar ASAP agreements at Horizon Airlines, American Eagle and Alaska Airlines, she said. Continental has no ASAP program for flight attendants, she added. “Despite your efforts to adversely characterize AFA and the safety professionals at United Airlines, we remain resolute; flight attendants are to be commended for identifying any safety hazard and for bringing the incident forward in the interest of safety for all.”
……… In other words, according to Veda Shook, it is now acceptable to write up your colleagues and turn them into the company, simply because their political beliefs differ from yours. How very un-union like and how very undemocratic of her. What Veda and the AFA thugs are too stupid to realize is that they will not be successful into scaring people into voting for AFA at United/Continental any more than they succeeded into coercing votes at Northwest/Delta. Flight attendants are too smart and too courageous to cower to this type of school-yard bullying.
