Two years and nine months ago after we first learned that Delta and Northwest would merge we began to ask questions of our AFA representatives.
Now, ten days before the representational vote, AFA has provided us with no answers to our most important questions.
*** In January 2008 we learned that Delta and Northwest were in merger discussions.
*** On April 15, 2008, Delta and Northwest Airlines announced a merger agreement.
*** On August 7, 2008, the merger won regulatory approval from the European Union.
*** On September 26, 2008, Delta's and Northwest's shareholders approved the merger.
*** On October 29, 2008, the United States Department of Justice approved the merger between Delta and Northwest.
*** November 1, 2008, PMNW and PMDL ALPA pilots – having resolved the representation vote, seniority integration and contract negotiations - combined under one agreement. PMNW pilots received raises as high as 18%.
Today it is SEP 19, 2010
Is Delta really controlled by NWA management as AFA has told us?
Why hasn’t AFA told us the truth about the Social Security offset?
Why hasn’t AFA given us a line by line comprehensive comparison of the PMNW contract and the PMDL work rules?
Why hasn’t AFA explained that the PMNW flight attendants will earn about $10,000 less per year, on average, than their PMDL colleagues until a combined contract is ratified?
Why hasn’t AFA been honest in stating that it could be three or four years – or longer before there is a combined contract?
Other than campaigning for our votes, what has AFA done for us in the last 888 days?
What improvements have they won us? NONE!
What protections have they given us? NONE!
Why did they abandon the enforcement of our ME TOO, worth to us over 195 million?
Why did they abandon the enforcement of SCOPE?
And if the last 886 days have been awful under the AFA regime, why should we expect their representation for the rest of our flight attendant career to be better, if they win the election?
Conclusion
In 10 days you will decide the outcome of this serious choice that will affect our profession for the rest of our careers.
Take the time to sit with those you trust and love the most and provide them the PMNW and PMDL comparison charts and the track record of both.
We took the time to compare and do the research – PRINT & SHARE
· For a 12 Year PMNW flight attendant that chooses to stay AFA, they would forfeit an Annual increase of $14,751.49 & 13 vacation days. This is for domestic flying.
· For a 23 Year PMNW flight attendant that chooses to stay AFA, we would forfeit an Annual increase of $13,669.11 & 9 vacation days.
· Here is the link to the actual flyer providing you the comparisons.
Please remember!
Whether you are for or against AFA, we all will need to cast a vote to make our choice count.
Sincerely,
Jose Arturo Ibarra
