Delta IFS seniority integration committee

Date: August 27, 2008
To: All Delta Flight Attendants
From: Joanne Smith, Senior Vice President - In-Flight Service and Global Product Development
Subject: IFS seniority integration committee

In February of this year I reiterated the commitment Richard and Ed made to a fair and equitable seniority integration in the event of a merger, and specifically called out the clear voice and direct participation Delta flight attendants would have in the seniority integration process.

With preparations to bring Delta and Northwest together now fully underway, it is time to, as we have in past mergers, make good on our commitment to provide you with the resources you need to nominate and elect a Delta IFS Seniority Integration Committee. This committee will represent your interests and will jointly participate, along with flight attendants from Northwest at the appropriate time, in recommending a fair and equitable seniority integration solution for both Delta and Northwest flight attendants on a combined flight attendant seniority list.

Details of the process and how to participate can be found in the attached hand-out, but here is a high-level overview:

* The committee will be composed of 14 Delta flight attendants with every flight attendant base represented.

* In September, Delta flight attendants will be able to nominate themselves or other flight attendants for election to the committee using the IFS Portal.

* The voting process will take place in October, also via the IFS Portal. During this time, those nominated will be given an opportunity to communicate why they would best be suited to represent the interests of Delta flight attendants on the committee. Those nominees receiving the greatest number of votes within their base at the conclusion of the voting process will serve on the committee.

The elected IFS Seniority Integration Committee will begin holding meetings in October or November. There is much analysis and preparation to do before meeting with Northwest's flight attendant integration committee.

The Our Delta Portal page will be your on-line home for all information related to seniority integration, in addition to being the place where you'll nominate and vote for flight attendant representatives to the IFS Seniority Integration Committee. Make sure you visit often to stay up-to-date on the latest news and events.

Also, please be sure to review the attached hand-out for information on how you can participate in selecting or seeking election to the IFS Seniority Integration Committee. Regardless of the way you choose to participate, you have a voice on this subject. Make sure it is heard!
