IAM Campaign in Crisis!!!
The IAM campaign to organize the Delta flight attendants continues to suffer from chronic, persistent and embarrassing identity crisis.
Here’s what’s “special” IAM: you don’t even know who you are.
In three years of “campaigning” (which really has been nothing more than a continual, snarky, sarcastic attack on Delta flight attendants and Delta leaders), the Machinists campaign has been successful in proving only one point:
The IAM doesn’t know who the IAM is!
How else to explain the repetitive comparisons to ALPA, ITF, TWU, ground workers at other airlines and almost anyone or anything that ISN’T IAM? And look at the imagery in their campaign literature. Is any of it representative of either machinists OR flight attendants? Cleary, the IAM is massively and intractably confused.
Come on IAM, where is your track record in successfully negotiating industry leading flight attendant contracts in a timely manner? Show us YOUR record. Make the comparison between the Delta work rules and ANY of your flight attendant contracts. PROVE to us that we can do better with you. Stop riding on the coattails of ALPA and TWU and whatever far-reaching target of your hyperbolic campaign rhetoric that you hope will fool the Delta flight attendants into believing your own dismal record can somehow be ignored.
And while we’re on the subject of “addled personality disorder”: whatever ever happened to your vice president Sito Pantoja, who promised us that he and the mighty IAM would lift Laboratory Conditions at Delta? Where are Sito and his magic wand now? Because, the Machinists have removed Sito’s letter from the IAM Delta campaign website (just like they’ve been pulling down the updates of their dismal negotiations progress on their other websites).
And, guess what? We are now in Laboratory Conditions, thanks to IAM! That means no more improvements in pay, work rules or benefits (other than what was already announced) for the duration. And no one knows how long that duration will be, but if an election is called and the IAM wins, that duration could last years. The impact on Delta flight attendants will be devastating!
So, where are you Sito? What happened to your promise of lifting laboratory conditions for the Delta flight attendants? Is this just another broken promise in a long trail of broken promises made to the Delta flight attendants? And that begs the bigger question that every Delta flight attendant should ask the IAM:
If we can’t trust you for free, why would we pay $800 a year to listen to your untruths and hollow rhetoric? Why buy the IAM cow if we are already treated to the ridiculous Machinists milk for free?
If a vote is called, you must vote no, in order for your vote against the IAM to be counted.
P.S. In their latest joke of a flyer, the IAM left out the record breaking profit sharing we just received, which brought our 2014 hourly rate to over $60 at top of scale. . . how convenient for them.
