AFA Bogus Charges Act 2: Veda Digs Further Into Our Pocketbooks

AFA Bogus Charges Act 2: Veda Digs Further Into Our Pocketbooks

By now it is apparent that AFA, and AFA International President Veda Shook, have no intention of retracting the union's bogus interference claims against the company. Thus, as has become all too typical from AFA and Veda, once again we the former members have been screwed over by our former union.

Check your latest deposit and double that amount (or to be accurate, multiply by 2.5). That’s the amount of profit sharing you would have gotten if AFA had run a clean, honest, decent and timely election, instead of delaying the election for two years and then disputing the results.

Obviously, Veda's leadership is nothing more than an extension of former AFA International President Pat Friend's dictatorial regime. Like Pat, Veda does not see or would rather ignore what is best for the former Northwest flight attendants, and instead chooses to pursue her own personal interests over ours.

Despite this, I just want to thank each of you who took the time and effort to contact AFA and Veda these past weeks with your heartfelt letters urging an end to the union's senseless and costly election protest.

But Veda and AFA will not rest at stealing our profit sharing money from us. Now they are going after some serious cash. Link Here: http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/2606534/2011comparison-pdf-february-17-2011-8-54-pm-241k?da=y to view a 2011 pay comparison between the NWA AFA contract and the Delta work rules for a thirteen year flight attendant who flies 80 hours of domestic. Clearly, the Delta Work Rules offer superior pay. In fact, if Veda and AFA continue their farce, this flight attendant will stand to lose $11,392.45 in pay and benefits this year alone. The disparity is even greater for those who fly international trips. That’s an awfully steep price of admission just to watch this travesty of a drama unfold.

There are flight attendants who could use that money to put food on the table, or clothe their families, or save their homes from foreclosure, but Veda doesn’t seem to care one bit. It’s clear that Veda cares as little about the individual worker – or the collective good – as Pat did. In fact,
Veda couldn't give a hot damn about our profit sharing checks or our potential to earn greater pay under Delta's superior work rules because that's NOT money in her pocket or in AFA's coffers. Our pay - or lack of pay - doesn't affect Veda, her attorneys, her advisors, or the rest of her executive board in the very least. Veda and her cronies are very well paid, mostly making six figure salaries, and also making decisions for others that will never directly affect their wallets. And for all of her pay, where has Veda been these past few months? She keeps costing us money and yet we have heard nothing from her whatsoever.

In closing, remember to keep up the pressure - and in so doing please continue to share with our coworkers how to join this bulk email list: Simply add your email at top right.

Sincerely,
Jose Arturo Ibarra
