AFA respect our decision!

Clearly, through this vote, the flight attendants chose to embrace Delta Air Line's longstanding culture of a positive, open and direct relationship with management. This was a tough campaign and I look forward to the healing that must take place so that no one feels disaffected and we all become a part of the Team that makes Delta Airlines shine.

With today's rejection of AFA, we encourage our former AFA leadership to live up to the tone of yesterday's hotline message to the flight attendants. While I have more than often disagreed with AFA, I heartily agree with their summation of the coming days:

“The next few weeks will set the tone for our future. Regardless of theoutcome of tomorrow's vote, "labor relations" will remain - albeit, perhaps, renamed. This relationship, with or without representation, will be personified by actions speaking louder than memos. By making good on campaign overtures and acting in good faith. By paying more thanlip service to inclusion and drawing in those whose vote does not prevail. And by choosing to dismiss any latent division that crept in through the campaign's strong passions.”

To that end, I highly encourage AFA to NOT dispute the election results, and NOT disrespect the flight attendant's decision to decertify the union.

A democratic Vote has taken place and the majority has ruled. Do not stand in the way of a much-needed raise for the pre-merger Northwest flight attendants. Actions speak louder than words – act in good faith AFA. Let us move on and forward now.

Please link to the official NMB document. AFA lost by 758 votes plus 430 that wrote in and voted against AFA – for a total of 1,188 flight attendants.
