There was no reason to forward Joanne's letter. We all get it at work.
If this vote fails, will you lead us to victory with a new Union since you hate AFA so much? Will you negotiate a scope clause? That will got first. How about the trip rigs and duty periods? That will go away to pay for the raise you want so much. Maybe you can negotiate away NWA retirement so that you can get 50% Social Security Offset as well. That will pay for everything.
Shame on you. You were a true Unionist but have now sold your soul and dignity the devil.

Rick,
If I had a nickel for every time an AFA staffer tried to cast shame on me for putting out the truth that threatens their cushy paid position or the potential position they could hold if AFA dupes enough Delta flight attendants into voting for them . . .
Just how much has AFA paid you the past two years to plant yourself in the LAX crew lounge and pass out donuts and cupcakes? As a PMDL flight attendant/paid AFA shill are you also entitled to the $57.60 in daily “per diem” that AFA showers on the PMNW flight attendants who are working for AFA?
What you and every paid AFA hack refuses to acknowledge (or maybe you can’t even recognize it), is the simple fact that AFA does not hold one leading contract in the airline industry. You also refuse to acknowledge that you make much more money as a PMDL flight attendant, than your PMNW counterparts do, because the Delta work rules are far superior to the AFA NWA contract.
It is sad to me that you are so far into this campaign and you continue to refuse to see AFA’s failures. It’s almost as scary to have people like you advocating for a corrupt incompetent organization as it would be to have someone like you actually in office “representing” the Delta flight attendants with the types of lies and scare tactics that you demonstrated in your email. Let’s set the record straight about the lies that you insist on perpetuating:
Scope – AFA general counsel Ed Gilmartin has already acknowledged that AFA has lost scope with the “possible exception” of the 747-400 flying, because of the pilot fence agreement. AFA lost this because they refused to follow the procedures that all unions follow in airline mergers” namely taking a snapshot of known flying, tracking the flying and establishing fence agreements. The loss of the PMNW scope clause was solely due to AFA’s utter laziness and incompetence.
Trip rigs and duty periods – Let’s talk about the utter lack of side-by-side comprehensive comparison that AFA never put out. They couldn’t, because if they had they would have had to acknowledge you 1 for 3:30 Trip Hour Credit (vs. our 1 for 3:36). Under the Delta work rules, EVERY SINGLE ONE of our South of Tokyo 7 and 8 day trips would be worth more hours (and paid at a higher hourly rate), 85% of our 5 day domestic trips would be worth more hours and ALL of our turns that have less than 4:45 flight time (e.g. DTW-BOS, MEM-LIT, DTW-LGA) would be worth more credit hours.
Social Security Offset – First of all, it’s not an offset. It’s a supplement for people who choose to retire early. Even Jean Marie Cinotto acknowledged that in one of her delusional posts on the subject. Secondly, your pension plan is set up completely differently than ours. Ours is a flat benefit per month per year of service, not based on final average earnings. Third, even with the “offset” your plan pays out more than ours does with equal years of service. Fourth – and this is the most important point – NEITHER PLAN CAN BE CHANGED under the Pension Protection Act. They are both frozen, Rick and to unfreeze them in order to make changes to them would cost Delta billions of dollars. The fact that you and AFA fail to grasp even the simple truths scares me even more about having you represent the Delta flight attendants.
The only devil here is AFA, Rick and the only shame is yours. How DARE you throw the PMNW flight attendants under the bus in some vain attempt at achieving some AFA office that I’m certain you will run for or be appointed to. The PMNW flight attendants have lost thousands of dollars because AFA’s delay on the representational election has kept us locked into our concessionary contract longer than we could have been. And you are advocating that we remain locked in for another 3 to 4 years while AFA fumbles at the negotiations table. That’s costing each PMNW flight attendant $10,000 - $12,000 per year. Plus $516 per year in union dues that you won’t have to pay until there is a combined contract.
You were recently asked, Rick, if you would be willing to donate part of the difference in your salary to a PMNW flight attendant at the same seniority and flying the same number of hours as you, as a demonstration that we were truly all in this together. Your response? A jaw open, deer caught in headlights look. What a nice position for you to be in; to advocate for an organization and avoid sharing the financial burden of belonging to it. And what a wonderful arrangement for you that you can sit there being paid by my dues dollars while at the same time trying to disburse your overabundant shame on me. Actions define character, Rick, and yours belie your complete failure to comprehend the basic ideals of unionism or collectivism that good unions espouse. How sad for you and how scary for all of us if you and AFA are ever in a position to intervene as the third party for the Delta flight attendants.
Sincerely,
Jose Arturo Ibarra
