2010 Simple, Unified Solutions for Delta Flight Attendants
2010 Simple, Unified Solutions for Delta Flight Attendants
Goal #1 - Pay Increases for PNWA Flight Attendants. Continued Increases for PMDL Flight Attendants
It is an undeniable fact that on October 1, 2010 pre-merger Delta flight attendants will receive raises that will bring their average annual income to more than $10,000 higher than comparable PMNW flight attendants. Add in the extra benefits and more flexible work rules and the improvements are even greater.
If AFA should win the representational election, their own negotiations track record proves that it would take at least three to five years for AFA to negotiate a new contract. And, again according to their own track record, it is very likely AFA will NOT be able to negotiate substantial raises for the PNWA flight attendants, much less provide any improvements over the current Delta work rules. In the meantime, Delta has continuously provided pay increases for the last three years to the PMDL flight attendants. If AFA is voted in, those increases will stop for the entire duration of contract negotiations.
Are you willing to sacrifice between $30,000 and $50,000 over the next five years to keep AFA on the property as an "insurance policy"? How much is an insurance policy that never pays out worth, anyway?
AFA just isn't worth the loss of $30,000 to $50,000 to the PMNW flight attendants. And it isn’t worth the loss of potential future gains to the PMDL flight attendants for the years it will take to get a combined ratified agreement.
Vote NO to AFA for money in your pocket now - or vote yes for perhaps nothing later. Remember, AFA has not given us any plans, strategies or guarantees for improvements in writing. In AFA’s own words, it would be foolish to buy their “insurance policy” without a legally binding contract from them.
You do the math.
Sincerely,
Jose Arturo Ibarra
